How we actually operate
- GMF Auto Transport LLC is a federally licensed broker of property — FMCSA MC #1675078. We arrange your shipment with an authorized motor carrier; we do not operate the trucks ourselves.
- Your vehicle is covered during transit by the motor carrier's cargo insurance (minimum $100,000 per load). We verify the carrier's insurance before dispatch and can provide the certificate on request.
- We do not guarantee pickup or delivery dates. Carriers operate under FMCSA hours-of-service rules; weather and mechanical issues can shift the schedule by 1–2 days.
- You can verify our license at FMCSA SAFER.
Our role
GMF Auto Transport LLC (MC #1675078) is a federally licensed property broker. We arrange motor-vehicle transportation between you and an FMCSA-authorized motor carrier. We do not own trucks, employ drivers, or provide insurance for the vehicle in transit. The motor carrier is the entity liable for the safe transport and any in-transit damage to your vehicle, covered by their cargo insurance (minimum $100,000 per load).
Pricing
Quoted prices are estimates. Final pricing is set when a motor carrier is assigned. If the price changes before assignment, we communicate it and you decide whether to proceed. We do not collect any fee from you until a carrier has been assigned and dispatched.
Pickup and delivery dates
We do not guarantee specific pickup or delivery dates. Carriers operate under FMCSA hours-of-service rules; weather, mechanical, and access issues can shift schedules by 1–2 days. Estimated windows are provided honestly based on current lane conditions.
Cancellation
You may cancel without charge any time before a motor carrier has been assigned. Once a carrier is assigned and you cancel, you may be subject to a dry-run fee charged by the carrier (typically $100–$300).
Damage claims
Document any damage on the Bill of Lading at delivery before signing. Damage not noted on the BOL is very difficult to claim. We assist you in filing legitimate claims with the carrier's cargo insurance.
Personal items
Personal items inside the vehicle are not insured under the carrier's cargo coverage. Most carriers permit up to ~100 lbs in the trunk at the driver's discretion. Do not ship items you cannot replace.
Governing law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut.
